The bane of every driver’s life: Dirty car windows. In addition to dust and dead insects, tree sap, leaf residue, and bird droppings make for dirty car windows. The result is often a greasy film that even the windshield wiper system can't do anything about. Driving with a dirty windshield is not only annoying, but can also be dangerous. - Unfold windshield wipers
The first step is to unfold the wipers and clean them thoroughly. This is important, otherwise you will get a surprise the first time you use them – one that undoes all your hard work! It is best to use a damp cloth for cleaning them. - Pre-wash
Before you start with the deep cleaning, it is recommended to rinse the windows with clear water to remove coarser dirt particles like dust and mud. This will prevent scratches from appearing on the glass. - Soak stubborn dirt
The easiest way to remove stubborn dirt is to put some damp newspaper or a wet cloth on the dirt when cleaning the car windows. Let it soak in for a few minutes and then simply wipe the dirt away. - Sponges and washing-up liquid
Household dishwashing liquid works wonderfully for cleaning car windows – and the rest of the car, too. The trick is to use warm or hot water. A few drops of dishwashing liquid are all that’s needed for a perfect glass cleaner (be careful - too generous a dosage will result in streaks). Apply this to a soft sponge and tackle the dirt by cleaning in circular movements. - The final touch
After you have wiped off cleaning agents from your clean car windows using a damp cloth, it is best to use a soft microfibre cloth to dry them.
